i'm been enjoying my SU 152.  I've been using the max gun, which is 122mm.  But after watching a vid by ruckus, he uses the 152 derp howitzer.

Anyone else prefer the 152, even though it's a lower tier gun?

I'm not very skilled at derping, but the derp is much more reliable for damage output. A single HE does atleast 300 and can go upto 1k quite well. The heat rounds are pretty reliable tier for tier too. Also you get the benefit of normalization and overmatching on tanks with 50mm of armor or less. When you're bottom tier, the 152mm performs much better than 122mm imo.

Depends on my mood

122mm have much better dpm while 152mm have better alpha

122mm is definitely costly because the apcr have poor pen unless you can flank

While 152mm have weaker dpm that which harder outdpm sometimes (plus inaccurate)

imo this tank is amazing because it has two choices to choose for gun

so when you got bored with 122mm you can always switch to another gun in garage

152 FTW!!!!

When you cant pen, just blast your enemy using HE round.

Oh wait, you got HEAT too!

Trust me, I am a pure noob. But I can carry any game with my T95.

Load HEAT, and laugh as you tear apart Ferdinands from the front with 250 pen and 600 alpha . it becomes a monster once you load HEAT , because you no longer have to aim for spots with less than 80mm of armor to do full damage, enabling you to dispatch heavy tanks which normally wont get penetrated by your HE round from the front with terrifying efficiency

Before 2.5 I would say that 122 or 152 depended on your play style, but with the buff in 2.5 152 is the only choice

152 all the way. At least u can still use HE and deal -+300 dmg whereas with the 122 you will bounce off in high tier battles

How about ISU-152?  Before getting the ultimate BL-10, should I continue to 'Derp' with the 152mm at tier 8?

At tier 8, 122mm got a slight ROF boost, and DPM is up at 3152.

The reason I'm asking is that 152mm splash damage does little to the tier X heavy armor tanks.

Good luck on the battlefield!

That 122mm in tier7 is awesome because it has sufficient pen

but the 122mm in tier8 is somehow awful because it will meet tier10 (isu152 is larger profile as well?)

So you're gonna to use 152mm all the way in isu-152, su-152 is ok with 122mm doesn't mean isu-152 is ok with it

because 152mm derp gun has heat to encounter tier 9-10 armor, 122mm if you can flank also only up to tier9 (tier 10 is difficult)

So, how OP is the SU-152 after the buff, honestly I would want to get the T32 and grind the rest of US Heavies, but if the remaining USSR TD line is fun after the SU-152, I might switch my mind. I'll get the SU-85 from T-34 (Have tried it on buddy account, and really love it) although I don't get the T-34-85 since I will grind T-43 from KV-13, So yeah I'm a fan of alternative lines, even I grinded T29 from Jumbo. How worthy is the SU-152? I tend to get a bit boring with the trio nerfed tier 7 Heavies, since I always think why I don't get them before the nerf. I can see the SU as KV-2 on steroids ~ much better aim time, dispersion, RoF, have HEAT, Faster traverse, much better camo and profile, at cost of a turret, since I love the KV-2 this might be the tank, although the turret on the KV helps a lot. I have seen Ruckus old and newest video and I'm impressed with it performance.

Of course the USSR TD line is good after the Su152.
Su152 itself is great due to its gun selection and fear factor.
Isu is one step better that can stay a bit back and make all Tier 10's pay if they expose themselves too much. Sadly u get trolled by the gun now and then, but not much of a problem.
Obj 704 is isu152 with better gun handling and epic camo.
Obj268 gets better pen, great mobility, troll armor and again one of the masters of stealth. Only down part is the horrible gun arc.

Just curious, what is your primary account name, no I'm not trying to be rude since I can understand re-roll for getting premiums/garage slots. But I'm interested how are you doing in your ISU/Obj.

Coming back to this topic after some more play with both guns, i can say that the 152mm is better for me in pretty much any game except games on dead rail or similar where you can camp in an elevated sniper position.  In those games,I prefer the better accuracy and dpm of the 122mmm.
