Centurion. That gun mantle.

Okay, that asides, the cent has a far more accurate gun(which also aims far faster, aim time of 2.3 secs) with more penetration too(though I hear the stock grind is terrible, I would never experience it as I went down the British heavy line first, and I do NOT want to play the stock cent with the comet's gun). Also, it has a slightly faster ROF(assumes top gun), it's heavier (okay, not exactly a positive, but it does mean you can viably ram other meds apart from the Panther II).

Also it has better view range and signal range than the T-44, and lastly, the most important feature of a cent is that it has stellar gun depression, which means you can effectively hull down quite well and abuse that great gun mantle of the Centurion.

However, hull armor is nothing spectacular (it's better with the Centurion 7/1 though) compared to a T44, its slower(fast enough to outmanuver heavies though), traverse is slower too(it's still decent enough though), gun alpha is slightly worse than the T44, and it's far larger than the T44, meaning it has a worse camo value than it's counterpart. And a lower power/weight ratio.

Overall, with the T44 you go for more of a brawler, while with a cent, it's more of a sniper(the top gun has 220mm of penetration, while the T44's has only 175mm avg pen.)

T-44 with the bottom of my heart, it has better armor and mobility (although the gun is average)

Also T-44 leads to the T-54 which is boss. Its got excellent hull and turret armor. While Cent 7/1 is not that good

One more thing about the next tanks in the line:

T-54 is definetly the brawling tank. Although the gun is okay, it's not stellar. The pen kinda sucks if you don't fire HEAT. Granted though, this is mitigated due to what the T-54 does, it goes up close, aims for weak spots or flanks the enemy and shoots their weaker side armour. Or circles them. Or just go hull down (the -5 degrees of gun depression makes that a bit hard) Gun aside, Armour is good for the kind of mobility you have. As in really good. And the T-54's mobility is great too.

The Centurion 7/1 has an amazing gun, being the 105mm, L7A1(IIRC), which is a Tier X gun, and it shoots APCR as standard(lol 268 pen). Standard pen is way better, you also have slightly better alpha (as in +70 better alpha if I'm correct), albeit you have a slower ROF. You do have better accuracy though. Aim times for both are the same.

Overall, the T-54 likes it up close, while the Centurion prefers to do things from a distance. Not to mention the Centurion 7/1 has crappy side and rear Armour and semi-adequate frontal Armour (thanks to it's angle). And the Centurion's mobility is...worse than the T-54, to say.

Major advantage the Centurion has over the T-54 is the gun depression. Means the Centurion can mitigate the poor hull armour by hiding and expose only the good turret front armour. Not to mention the Centurion has double the gun depression that the T-54 has. [removed]

Oh. And the Centurion has HESH.

Honestly, it depends on your play style. Both are good tanks but for different reasons.

Inappropriate discussion. Content removed, user warned.

Get the T-44 to head towards the T-54. I personally may not go much further from the T-54, which has an awesome 120 mm with effective armour (at range) exceeding the M46 patton's AP penetration. The lower glacis is quite small.

AS for the British mediums, I am not too sure, as they were introduced relatively recently. The centurions have good mantlets and short turrets. They also fire very, very fast, and are able to output alot of damage in a minute.

But in the end its up to you.

P.S dont try to think T-54 can live through tank destroyers and heavy tanks, as they will have enough penetration to go through even partially angled frontal armour, and each shell can reduce your precious below average hitpoints.

The T-44 is much easier to play. The Centurion 1 requires skills such as hulldown to succeed, which mignt not come naturally to inexperienced players.

'In good hands' almost any tank can beat another one...  Not just cent over T44, or the opposite.

cent 1 and 44 are completely different tanks, cent 1 is a ridge fighter and T-44 excels in mobility with a high alpha gun (for a medium)

T-44 is a much better tank as it can handle most situation effectively, as for the cent 1, it needs to move from hull down spot to hull down spot to excel but it is not easy due to the massive hull!!!!! Also, due to the low alpha nature and high rof nature of the gun, it is a lot harder to achieve high damage out in every game (I only managed 1550, after 450 games) to influence the outcome of the battles.

also, the T-44 leads to T-54, the most over powered tank in the game (tier for tier speaking)

I surprised myself by voting for the centurion. Got it 2 weeks ago, expecting it to be crap tank. The only reason I got it is because my mates in shaft told me to. Free expd the turret but hated it. Stock gun was useless. 24% wr. Then I got the top gun. O my lord what a tank. The gun performs amazingly. Combine that with a strong as mantlet, you've got yourself a killer. Ignore everyone comparing it with the t44. I bash those things up 24/7 and as being bushka said, trade dmg for distance. This is not a brawl tank, it is a laid back hulldown specialist, putting the mantlet and the epic gun to work. And one last thing, do not go in for the brawl unless you are sure you would win

I would choose the T-44 but I don't have the cent so I can't say anything abt the cent.

T-44 is a brawler's tank. High alpha, low rof and low pen.

I had 1game where I did 5.2k dmg

Its a fast light tank thats pretty good except with the stock gun. You have a gd terrain resistance which allows you to circle heavies, TDs slow tanks with ease.   You would need your wits about you like any medium driver. So spend some time learning the maps and gauging where you can make a difference in battle.  Spot for your TDs and engage if it allows.  Else have an exit plan and get ready to spam prem ammo and get the hell out.  Lastly go check out bushka vids on how to brawl, scout spot etc.  It explains most of what you need to succeed in this tank. Platooning will help a lot. Hope that helps.

the t44 is not a light tank

54 ltwt, better than t44 in almost everything except gun depression, 10mm hull armor and view range. Much faster than cent 1 and the gun handling is decent while having better turret armor than cent 1.

But I would say t44 over cent 1, simply because cent 1 hull is bad, turret can be penned as long as a shot is well-aimed. cent 1 is also slow, comparable to the stinky panther 2. Even tho the gun is good, 190 alpha will not scare anyone. Even a tier 7 IS will dare to rush cent 1 knowing 400 dmg vs 190 dmg is a good trade. Cent 1 is also very big, easy to get spotted.
