So,... when someone gives us a Positive Appraisal, we get to thank them.

But when someone gives us a Negative one, we cant ask them why ?

Does that seem fair ?

Knowing the Blitz playerbase, if people knew who had down voted them, they would spam their chat with abusive messages - even (especially?) if they were down voted for a legitimate reason.

Maybe there should be a mandatory reason field so if you down vote someone you have to say why, and they get to see that (but not necessarily who said it).

nah, just scrap the whole appraisal system as they don't seem to ban really poorly behaved (trolls) players for a decent amount of time

It is not "pointless", and it serves it's purpose very well. It is just that the purpose is not to please you or any other player.

What is it’s purpose? I see people who have purple star rating with less than 40% WR

I think the "effective player" category confuses things. We don't need the MH system to assess player skill: WR, average damage, and average XP already provide that. What MH allows is an assessment of player social behaviors - are they contributing to other people enjoying the game in a safe and respectful environment.

Personally, if I see "move m0r0ns", "nub team", "I d I o t", "useless team" "report" (in the first minute of a match without any reason given) etc - I'm quite likely to use the provocative communication or unsporting conduct votes. Racist or homophobic comments or player names will get a downvote and a support ticket. Note that it's "unsporting" not "unsupporting" in other words it's not meant to be a downvote for people who decided not to Yolo with you or had a different idea about how to play their tank or the map.

Deliberate blocking or bumping to break camo will get an unsporting conduct for sure and if it's really bad, again, a support ticket.

AFK will get an inactivity in battle. Camping with no shot while the whole green team dies, followed by a brief period of damage farming and the inevitable loss, might get one too but I'm a bit careful about that since just because I wouldn't play a certain tank or map a certain way doesn't necessarily make it wrong to do, I'm only a fairly average player and there's a LOT I don't know. I've spectated enough people 'doing it wrong' who won the battle for green while their team abused them in chat to know there's more than one way to win. Getting killed early for zero damage does NOT get a downvote, anyone can make a mistake or just be the unlucky player who happens to be the person on the edge of the greens who discovers the whole red team has managed a flank and gets steamrolled without any chance to fire back. I've been that player and it feels bad enough without copping a warning as well.

That all sounds like I'm running around on a 1-player downvote jihad but in reality I use my 3 praises almost every battle, and I only use a downvote about every tenth battle or even less often.

After all that, has WG decided to scrap the whole downvote thing, or is it just me? I seem to only have the option for upvotes now :-D

I dunno, its nice to be able to give players upvotes and it is always nice to have your efforts upvoted by others. So that aspect of it is fine by me - its the lack of action on accumulated downvotes that is the issue.

Nah, you probably just used all your downvotes - they get replenished slower than upvotes.

I give out lots of upvotes and I do give some downvotes but I still think it’s pointless. I have been given “Lucky” a few times... what the hell does that even mean. There is of course RNG but that’s not luck.

Can someone explain what the purpose of this thing is, anyone? Mods do you talk to WG? Do any of you have an explanation or can point to one.

Purpose is very simple. Some number of angry players will just press complaint button and will not bother to send tickets and screenshots to support. =profit.

It was never intended to fix anything else, simply to vent some anger. Same as "avatars" are intended to give less in containers, still maintaining the sense that you are getting something.

I see your point but that doesn’t benefit us the players at all.
