How does the AMX Ac 45 perform in practice, what about its said (and obvious) week point the RANGE FINDER on top?

Is it really a downside that makes this tank a no-go, or does it not get hit that frequently so the tank can be used without frustration

and the permanent concern of exposing the range finder?

I am asking as someone who is not driving TDs for a living so to speak, just looking into it as a "hobby" ;)

I am still kind of stuck in the painful grinding of the SaU 40, and I am wondering if it is worth to hold up until I get the AMX?

TIA.

I'm on the tier 7 one - I think that's the 45.

If you sit still, you'll get hit on the range finder, so don't sit still.  It feels to me a lot like the T25AT - mobile, decent gun, bouncy front when angled.  Keep wiggling and you'll get lots of bounces.

Tier 4 was the nadir of the line for me.  The tier 5 bathtub is excellent, and the tier 6 is okay once its upgraded - apart from the target knob on top - so keep moving.

Thanks, makes sense and is helpful... so I rush into the bathtub with a bit of free Exp. ;)

Got the bathtub now... just drove it twice... but why is the view range so godawful?! Some kind of nerf to give the gun limits or keep it advancing? Strange!

The Sau is a piece of rubbish. Tier V.

i stopped there but have noticed that the tier VII is good. It makes me nervous when on oppo team. If players use it as a spearhead tank it is dangerousz

The t5 is sofar my fav of the line...your armour on the t7 will only really hold up against t6 tanks..

Please not that all people are going to shoot on your is your range finder. If you aren’t good with TDs don’t bother. Although from my personal experience with Object 268, people hardly ever pen my frontal armour even though I have an obvious rangefinder. Although Obj 268’s rangefinder is incredibly small so...

The other thing is, normally I don’t even face enemies straight up. I find I do more damage when sniping - 4000-5000. But when facing enemies straight up - 2000-3000. Big difference there. And I understand most tank destroyers don’t have the DPM of 268 or 263 which are supposedly the best TDs in terms of the gun, but please note tank destroyers are generally built to be snipers.

Update, having finnished the t7 and bought the t8, i must say, the t7 is a very strong tank, but its biggest enemy is sitting still whils't spotted and not using the gun depression to further angle your front....
T8 seams ok so far...
