You know, I've always wondered what's the worst tank in the game. Some say it's the Panther and the others say its the VK 4502 A. These tanks are not very good tanks considering that a lot of other tanks can fit the role but they do the job and sometimes they do the job well. Very well perhaps that I've enjoyed these two, despite having average statistics in them. I never believed that there was a bad tank in the game and that's what I thought until I drove this thing a couple of months back.
So, for starters, lets get unto the numbers. It has a 120mm main arnament with 248 mm of standard penetration and a powerful 298 mm for premium and a respectable 60mm for the explosive rounds with an aim time of 2.06. So the gun sounds punchy and that's good for a tank this size until you realise that the gun is a good news bad news situation since the RoF is appalling and the accuracy is .38m of dispersion per 100 meters. Well, you'd counter with that by saying that this should be played like a frontline brawler due to the fact that the armour of this thing is a thick 254mm of American steel. Well, here's where the stats lie since that 254mm of armour is located at the gun mantlet which is something that people wouldn't shoot at if they were even thinking about it. The rest of the front is around 200mm and if that isn't bad enough, the thing has weak points on the top that can be shot at by a medium tank.
So you what have here is an appalling tank destroyer with the speed that makes battleships look like supercars and armour so bad that even a light tank can penetrate through it. What you have here is a rolling disaster, capable of being a feast for anyone who goes up against it and it as useful as an ashtray on a motorcycle in the battlefield.
I have never driven anything that is as bad as this. I would've taken a Leo PTA stock over a fully upgraded T28. Its that bad. It's armour is bad, its mobility is bad and its gun is sub par. Anything it sees can damage it on the front and if the tank cant pen it on the front, its so slow that anything would've gotten into its back without receiving a scratch.
You know, I've driven an oil tanker that goes from 18.3 knots to 18.4 in less than 2 minutes. These are the numbers that T28 drivers ever dream of.
TL;DR
The T28. It is an armored as a prison bus, it cant hit a broadside of a barn from the inside, so slow that the battle was over before it even gets near the battlefield and its driving it as much fun as watching paint dry. In other words, its rubbish. Still at least it made them try harder in the tier X department of this tank line.
