Saying hi...just started playing the game. Still playing at lower tiers, highest tank is tier 4. Slow going to earn the credits to get to tier 5.

RNG hates me and seems like more than 1/2 the time I seem to be in unfavourable matches with higher tier tanks, and in order to penetrate reliably, I seem to have to use the expensive ammo against higher tier tanks(I followed some internet guide of stocking 10% APCR but the credit bleed is high when I lose.

I chose UK and Russia as my 2 countries and the UK mediums and TDs are so painful to use compared to the Russians... or I just have to learn to use them better :)

I think the game is already quite fun at the lower tiers. So maybe I'll try to achieve mastery at the lower tiers before thinking of higher tiers and also to train crew skills to a decent level.  So far at least my KDR and DR are >1.0 :)

Welcome to the forums. For someone who only started playing, you are already thinking about it a lot! With that attitude, you will do well.

Thanks for the encouragement. I'm still new, so playing the lower tiers is still fun...

I used all the free gold to buy 10 extra tank slots, and everyday play all the tanks tier 1-4 tanks I own to get the x2/x3 XP bonuses to increase crew skills and slowly trying to earn credits.

Russian tanks are easier to start playing with, and not all tanks have bad pen. Check if you are using a proper gun-just because the gun has a higher calibre does not mean it is the best. The UK TD's get better after the horrible Val AT.
Happy Tanking!

I got a KV-1 but after the 3 games favourable matchmaking. 14 out of 20 (70%) of my games are against +1 tier tanks. In order to survive I have had to spam APCR and my funds were so dangerously low that I just sold the KV-1 as I was also getting tier 5 missions and only 1 tier 5 tank with which to complete.  Now I am sticking with tier 4 to grind gold and also to have a better selection of tanks for completing missions.... even at tier 4, I think 70% of my games are against +1 tier tanks.... but at least APCR costs less....

Haha, welcome to World of tanks Blitz.

Its best that you learn some of the game mechanics via videos and some by battle experience.

Another good way is getting into a platoon with an experienced player for a bit and just run around and see what he/she does.

If you need anything then feel free to ask.

What is the likelihood of a 7 game losing streak? I just achieved that. Team after team of people who are actually worse than me  (most of the games I was the lower tier tank).  I thought I would have a 50% chance of getting a good team? Did MM just change to some other criteria? The screenshot only shows 6 of the 7 games lost because it all can't fit 1 screen :)

But finally, after many many losses, Ace Alecto....

After getting Alecto Ace, I was suitably inspired to play Valentine again. Alecto the requirements for Ace are so low you don't need Epic medal, but for Valentine, if you Ace seems like you would qualify for some other medals too.... need at least High. I lost money because of APCR use.... SU-76 it isn't....

For the Alecto, I got the Ace by following a Hetzer, so I know that the best way to play tier 3/4 TDs is to follow a good Hetzer and copy what he's doing. :)

Thanks to a very good Hetzer player that I followed, I finally got Ace for SU-85B too.  He also liked to drive aggressively so at the half-way point of the battle with fewer tanks left, we both drove towards the enemy and engaged in close combat among the trains in Himmelsdorf. He was very unselfish. He knew his front armour was tough and was not afraid to show his front to lure the enemy face to face while the SU-85B being more mobile, engaged the enemy at the side/rear. We even managed to hunt a confused Covenanter :) With this, I have Aced all 6 Tier 2-4 TDs that I own so now its time to move to a tier 5 TD and tier 5 is a whole lot tougher than tier 4.  Based on feedback, I will get a SU-85 and not the AT1. :)

p.s. As I am really new here.... I only finally found out how to login to these forums using my WG username..... (as I used a different login method for the game and didn't do the necessary account linking)

Sounds like you're doing just fine. One suggestion, to avoid Credit bleed - turn off the "Resupply automatically" options on the various tabs, unless you really think they're adding value.

Resupply automatically option saves your time...doesn't make your credit bleed whatsoever

When you want to succeed as much as you want to live to breathe, then only you will succeed.

Oh, it happens. :)

It's hard not to think that there is more going on when you get such a run. It seems nearly statistically impossible to get really bad players for so many battles in a row. People handle it differently. Some take a break from playing for a while. Some switch to a different tank and some to a different tier as well. Others just push through. It may help to have a tank that you win a lot in to fall back to when things go badly. I do this. I might also look for one of my platoon mates. Nothing like playing a good tank (for you) in a good platoon to get you smiling again.

I got Matilda Ace finally. :) Having played 200+ games on Matilda I thought this would be the toughest tank to get Ace in, because its too slow chase down all the enemies it needs to get the Ace. So my Ace was due to an A20 and Covenanter wanting to do a face to face shell slinging duel with a Matilda, so there was luck involved.... I still don't know how to drive slow tanks well..

What is the go with Ace Medals lately, they seem to have gotten almost impossible to achieve.

Valiant effort reward has kinda broke the ace system. It's almost like you'd rather lose a match where you carried alone to get ace than win to only get a class 1. I mean, valiant effort is a much needed feature but it's still not perfect.

Just got a Pz S35 from a standard chest. Played 13 games and got 3 High Caliber awards already. This is really a damage dealing machine! Furthermore its a Medium so I can train my medium crew skills which are a bit lacking.  Because this tank is slow and heavy front armour, it's looks like a good training tank for higher tier slow tanks. Maybe if I had trained on this first, my Matilda scores wouldn't be so awful :)

Managed to Ace my new Pz S35 after a few more games. It generates a lot of credits. Guess if I have credit bleed at upper tiers, I just play a few rounds on this. Makes we wonder if that there other Premium tanks as OP as this in the upper tiers. So I have to say thanks to WG for the free tank :)

Cool, it's a pretty good tank. The armor is pretty good and so is the speed

The Pz S35 is a great tier 3 tank.

There are several premium tanks in the higher tiers that are called OP by some players but you probably won't have to look further than the IS-6 (can be found above the Russian tech-tree) or the IS-3 Defender (more scarce but can be bought right now in the auction or via a crate if you are lucky). I imagine you already know these tanks but they make good credits and are friendly to players. Even a high-tier noob like me can maintain a 60% win-rate in the IS-6 and that was when I was still very new to the game and had no clue.
