what tiers are you up to?

Personally I seem to do better with the Russian mediums. At lower tiers, the two T-34s are not to bad with armour, and the 57mm on the T-34 is fast firing. The T-43 at tier 7 is flat out my best tank. Armour is a bit easier penetratable, but with care you can still be trouble to tier 8 and 9, and you are quick enough and small enough to move fast, and below ridges.

The American mediums are good as long as you don't stick that howitzer on them. Absolutely useless above tier 5 and a positively bad joke by the T20. Armour doesn't seem as good as the Russians, but still solid, and their guns seem to just have a bit more oomph in the tier 5-7 range.

German mediums have accurate guns, and fairly fast firing, but the tanks are big and not hard to hit. And of course everyone seems to buy them first, so don't really know what they are doing when they first get them so look hopeless.

In summary if you choose Russian or American line eventually you'll have tier 10 with very weak armour. Almost very tier 7 and above can pen you down. I suggest German Meds, angle ur tanks and you'll have descent armor.

Russian meds are for you if you like manueverability with armor and RoF. Preferably the T-54 and the T-62A.

"Right or wrong, evil or good, but they still fight, without second thoughts they march up to the enemy, they dont hope to go home tommorow, their families are now their war brothers, every bullet they shoot, every lives they taken, every blood they spilt, did they give up? They'll never give up, for their flag they will fight, even if it means dying at cost, rather than die in vain, they'll fight for whats theirs, until the last blood drop, they are the soldiers of war" -war-

Russian mess are king in med  circle fights.  Great for brawling which these small maps encourage.

American meds at the top tree have super guns in terms if dpm.  They just have horrific armour.  So don't stop moving unless you are absolutely in cover.

The thing not mentioned is that the Patton has 265 mtr view range.  Put coated optics on and be at 292 Mtrs.  Then never worry about being lightbulbed first again.  You can spot enemies up for big guns to nail and get half the dmg and exp done.  It also fits the play style of getting that first shot then umm hiding :)

E50 etc are laser like and can ram in med fights because they are bloody heavy.   The high tier German meds driven well are absolute beasts.  They can bounce ram and snipe.

Agree with those points and add:

USA Mediums have the best gun depression, meaning you can use terrain (small crests as protection a little easier than the other tanks. But you have to espose a very soft turret to do that, and almost anything in the game can pen any part of your tank. You need to really use terrain well if you drive the yank tanks - they are maybe the hardest to use well. They can also fire on the move very well to their stable guns, but you need to be confident to keep moving while you shoot to really use these well, if you stop you will get shot and die.

Russian tanks have good armour on the turrets but weaker gun depression than the yanks, meaning you can hide your chassis behind a small ridge and only have a hard turret exposed. They are probably the easiest class of mediums to use because of that. And the T62a has the highest dpm of any tank at tier X. Its small and has low HP, so you still dont wanna get hit, but if you can make use of hull down spots and avoid frontline combat as much as possible, then it can be a real weapon. Unfortunately its more common to see noobs get this tank and drive it like a weak brawler. Not smart.

The germans before the tier IX e50 can be difficult to use well, some consider them the weakest tanks in the game they are large tanks with high rate of fire guns with laser like accuracy as bushka said, but their size makes them hard to hide, their armour is mediocre (though better than the usa tanks) and they have terrible gun depression than means if an enemy medium gets up close then he can track you, but you will have real trouble hitting him, and the poor gun depression means using terrain is difficult. But at tier,X the E50m is a right beast. Not the most mobile of mediums, but it has some armour a great gun, and its quite fast once it gets that mass up and running so it can cross the map to flank quite easily. Its like a heavy medium that is useful to counter other mediums.

Looking back through the comments, Carvin Marvin seems to have also hit the nail on the head.

The tank that makes me smile the most - and frown the most, is the Patton M46 and M48 though... they are just so mobile have great guns, and are FUN to play. but if your heavies refuse to move forward, then with no armour, these tanks can get squished very easily. They will test you more than most. And reward you better than many as well.

WoT Blitz - :Legend of BBIC

But if two tier IX flank - its all over - I'm gonna sit at home and flank while watching pron - and the best flanking shoes? Someone else's Nikes obviously

If you see Tricks and Dix in a plat, just adopt a BBIC playstyle, you can't win - leave your shoes next to your tank, we'll collect them after the game.
