It's definitely up in the Bundle Section now.

Trying to convince myself that it's worth it, from a collectors/novelty point of view-is 32 Aussie Bucks worth it for 4 tanks I'll only use to muck about in occasionally to break up an XP grind?

I can't see using any of them to regularly grab buckets of credits, I think there's better tanks about should I want that, or for the pure fun-factor of their performance, got the free M3 Light for that, and I only tool about in that rarely as it is. :playing:

nah not true. The pz b2 is worth it on its own... sure it was on special for a steal a while back. but there is no tank like it for stand there and pound em fun.

And the ram 2 is an awesome peekaboom master, you can kinda get sick of hearing 'penetration!' - but its great stress relief! and at tier 5, you get enough other tanks that just flat out miss when you do... great fun.

The valentine is good too - and if you need a set of tanks for taking advantage of 5x weekends, its hard to go past this set.

the su100y is the only one I'm not a fan of - its the only tank that makes my Ferdinand look pretty - but its a good credit grinder - makes money even on a loss.

Good to see the Asian server get some specials that arent on the NA server

I'd get the bundle, but I already have the B2... So it's kind of a waste.

M8Tricks knows the joy of the B2. It should be in a tree of its own. TT: Troll Tenk.

Thanks for those tips M8Tricks. I guess I've just never seen anyone use them effectively.

Ya - like loads of premium tanks, you get more wallet warriors than guys that spend any time learning how to use them.

A trend in a few of the lighter premiums is towards fast reload and low damage. With the exception of the 100Y, that describes these tanks.

The key to success is to create lots of opportunities to take shots, not just take a shot and then wait a while...

What I've found on these is:

Ram 2 - it has good mobility and a fast reload (with a gun that is surprisingly accurate even when not fully zoomed in), it lends it self to rapid turnover peeakboom shots - line up your target, pop out really quickly take a shot then back to cover. If you get noob opponents, you can usually hit em and duck back before they have even aimed... slow reload guys usually don't like to waste shots if they take a long time to fire. And if your slow relodaing opponent does shoot and miss (or even hit you) you can stay out and take two shots to their one with this fast reloading tank.

B2 - its a mobile troll. Switch to APCR (which is still cheap) and consider using adrenaline to really get your rate of fire up. Its not incredibly slow, but its not sports car - great side armour and a forward mounted turret makes this tank a reverse side scraping master high rate of fire amkes it easy to perma track opponents - and very strong armour all over makes this tank onbe of the few tanks that is able to withstand being attacked from 4 sides at once, Some tanks like the P3 are simply unable to damage this tank. It has a small weakspot on its front, and the back of its turret is a weak spot, but anywhere else its near impenetrable. I equip spall liner top further frustrate tanks that use HE, scrape to hide my front weak spot, and rotate the tank to avoid enemies getting behind me. its a veryt easy tank to drive and its preferential MM makes it one of my favourite tanks.

Valentine has troll armour from the front, its slower, but if you stay back a little and dont let anyone get behind you, then most cant pen you from the front, can be a fun tank to troll in as well.

Each of these you want to run only in gold (but swap out to credits for payment) - its not difficult to get 1000 damage in the B2 or the V2, when all other opponents and allies are lucky to get 200 or 300 (if they arent a TD running derp). And the key is to make use of your high dpm. Don't let your opponent hide and reload, you need to be firing every time your gun is loaded. Thats the same key to success as the M10 and the panther later on. Get loads of shells out, even poorly aimed, for the best chance of success. I have had at least one game in the Ram 2 where I put out over 2000 damage (in a low damage gun, that means constant firing, peak shoot hide reload, rinse and repeat.

I haven't been able to figure out the 100Y - its shaped like a garden shed (huge square and ugly), has armour as thin as one, and it has a slow firing gun with very average damage and low accuracy. If anyone else has tips, please let me know... its probably a good one in the hands of a TD specialist, but I can't make this tank sing.

I chose the SU-100Y as a premium tank partially for it's history (It's a land boat!  130mm cannon from a Naval Destroyer and a 47 litre engine from a Motor Torpedo Boat :D ), but also because I expected it's play style to be completely different from anything in the credit lines.  If I wanted to play something that is very like a Panther, I'd play the Panther! :) I was right, this is not like any other tank!

I'm only 16 games in so far, and I find it very entertaining.  I'm holding a 50% win rate and averaging 1230dmg/battle while I work it out, so it's certainly got possibilities.  Once I get some equipment for it it's going to sing.

Like most premium tanks, it's an exaggerated tank, the B2 gets armour at the expense of penetration, as long as you can work with it's weaknesses while exploiting it's strengths, then it's great.

The SU-100Y is the heaviest tank in it's tier, it's 10 ton heavier than a T-150!

It also has the most powerful engine at 890hp, giving it better acceleration than a KV-1S, though a lower top speed.
Highest penetration for it's tier 196mm.
Highest alpha for it's tier 460dmg.
Good gun articulation, don't have to move the hull much.

High hit point pool 900hp is more than any other Tier VI TD, more than some Tier VII TD.
Lowest armour 60mm from any facing.

I'm still working on the tactics, but it's based on never, ever let them hit you!  Range and hard cover, always.
The high manoeuvrability usually lets you choose the encounter.
Make each shell count, it'll be a long time until the next one.
Don't hang around, glass cannons should hit and run!
If you have to brawl, take the hit, you have the points, just make the shot count.

The M10/Panther is also an underrated tank.

It also has a high rate of fire that beats the rof of the IS.

And with good pen, great aim., high rate of fire, armour that can be angled to bounce a few shots, fair manoeuvrability, and a good HP pool, this tank is a winner.

Unlike the regular panther, this tank has preferential MM which makes it more fun than the Panther (that occasionally finds itself in tier IX fights)

How is missing out on Tier IX more fun?!
Mid to low Tier is when the Panther shines, being a fast heavy is more fun when you have larger slower opponents.

I prefer the American classification of the Panther, they considered it a Heavy Tank at the time.  A fast heavy, but at 60% heavier than an M4, and nearly twice the weight of a T20 definitely not a medium.
Tiger II, E75, T95, these are the opponents I want to see when I'm in a Panther.  I want to stay as far away from conventional mediums as I can.
IS-3 and IS-8 I try to avoid too, they're also fast heavies, and better at it (with a good driver).
Then again, most seem down on the Panther, I really like it.  It's got me two of my Lehvaslaiho's Medals and my only Bruno's Medal so far, and I'm far from finished with it, I've another 45,000XP to get to the Panther II.

Of course, based on the fact that I bought an SU-100Y, I think we can agree my taste in tanks and play style are probably not conventional...:)

You post contradicts itself. You say you like the US's definition of the Panther (as a heavy) - but then you describe fighting like a TD...

When you don't have to face tier 9, you can play the M10/Panther more like a heavy. Try that at tier 9 and you are 3 hits away from being an attractive hull down point for your remaining allies.

Being in a tank that isn't very fast compared to other tanks - thats not fun for a medium.

With a gun that can't do very much damage compared to every other tank in the battle? Not my idea of fun either.

Being low tier is fun, but only if you have something the top tiers don't have. Small size so you can hide, or moar speed so you can hide and chase,

I liked my panther, but against high tiers it was more like a TD with a turret than it was like a medium or a heavy.

But I really like the M10/Panther. I think the MM it receives puts it closer to being on an even level with the tanks it goes up against... Something the Panther doesn't get.
